The first step was to build a strong operational and back office platform that the program managers could utilize and share in order to pool their resources. A strong, efficient back office platform is absolutely crucial to the success of a program, but it is an expense that adds very little value to the overall portfolio upon a liquidation event (sale, merger, or IPO). Without a strong back office, a program cannot service, but bearing the costs of supporting one drains resources needed to grow the brand.
